CULTURAL EXPERIENCES
Most of our time on deputation has been spent in the south. We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know some wonderful pastors and their families and stand in awe at the work that God is still doing in our great churches throughout this country. We have also enjoyed the new things we have been introduced to. These would include: homecoming (not a dance an annual church reunion), banana puddin’ (a sweet banana desert that some say is so good it will make you “slap ya mama!”), Chik-fil-A (a restaurant where it has been said you could eat there “seven times a day”), and fatback (an actual piece of pig fat cut from the back of the pig and then deep fried). We praise the Lord for allowing us the opportunity to experience “new culture” right here in the good ol’ USA!
THE STILL SMALL VOICE
While ministering with a local preacher in the Toombs County jail in Georgia, I dealt with a young man about his soul. I left prematurely due to another set of volunteers coming in to fill their time slot. I was so burdened to finish dealing with him that I went back after a few days had passed only to find out that the very same night we talked he prayed to receive Jesus in his cell! While challenging Christians in another church about key areas of missions involvement, a lost young man who had come to church after much effort by his grandmother, responded to an invitation and trusted Jesus as Savior. On two other separate occasions, after challenging believers to ramp up their soul winning efforts, men came and reported that after the services were over they had gone home and won lost family members and friends to Christ. Praise God for that still small voice that urges to obey His leading, in salvation and Christian service!!
COLOMBIA, HERE WE COME!
Since our last letter our monthly support has doubled! We are right at forty percent of our needed support. We are excited to see God answering our prayers towards having our support raised by the end of 2010. Thank you so much for your prayers and faithful giving!
